“My most memorable events were “the” visit from a so-called dentist, Empire Day and Sports’ Day at the Vicarage.

“I attended All Saints’ School during the years 1929 - 1935. At eleven years of age I transferred to the Willows School on Hibbert Lane [now the Ridge] from 11 years to 14 years and left to go to work.”

“Memories not of any one special event but of a small village school where all the children and their families knew each other. The two top classes were taught in the hall divided only by a low wooden partition resulting in rather noisy and difficult conditions for pupils and teachers.”
