Introduction

This booklet has been produced to commemorate one hundred years since the foundation stone was laid to mark the opening of the 'new' All Saints' Primary School on 3rd May 1902. It is an updated version of a booklet produced in 1987 to celebrate the 150th anniversary of the founding of the school on its present site at the junction of Church Lane and Brickbridge Road.

The booklet is written in two parts. The first section aims to present a brief history of All Saints' Church of England Primary School and is largely based on the work of Gladys A. Swindells B.A. 'History of Education in Marple 1603-1971'.

The second part contains reminiscences of former pupils which were sent to All Saints' School recently or were included in the earlier booklet produced by the school 'All Saints' C.E. (Controlled) Primary School, Marple   1837 -1987'.  I would like to thank all those named in this section for their contributions and also thank Peter Clarke for his help with archive photographs.
