What they say about themselves: |
"The Hare & Hounds is a hidden gem in the beautiful hamlet of Mill Brow, a genuine village community in a great rural setting. I took on the pub in February of 2007, having agreed refurbishment plans with Robinson's. These have been carried out to a very high standard and include a brand new kitchen, a new "snug" area, new back bar, toilets and much more. The pub has now been transformed "back" to an excellent country pub with a great atmosphere, roaring fire in the winter and the perfect place for discerning drinkers and diners to get away from machines, loud music, mobiles and large screen TV's. But it's still a lively place with good banter, occasional entertainment (much of it home made) and the sort of pub we used to enjoy - not a theme pub owned by a pub co, but a genuine "local" that caters for its customers not its profit margins and ignores fashionable trends. The food is excellent and of a very high standard prepared by a chef who believes in good food freshly prepared and locally sourced wherever possible. Brakes Brothers never call here! We have tried to create a menu, which is value for money but a cut above the rest and can be described as great pub food as we used to know it but with a bit of a difference. We only take a limited number of bookings (so that you don't walk in to an empty pub with reserved signs on every table) and can usually accommodate any walk-ins. This is still a pub and not a restaurant, so the atmosphere is friendly and informal. There is a small beer garden at the side of the pub and the benches outside the front provide the best views in the area (if we ever get the weather). It is a Mecca for walkers at weekends in particular." |
