Update on some information

PARENTS: people are understandably anxious about what to do on Monday. If you’re not sure you can contact Stockport Council who have already been responding to individual issues. The contact is school.enquiries@stockport.gov.uk
This line is manned from 9-5 today and into next week

Other info
SMBC has as much information as they know so far from the government on the web site. The quickest access is to go onto the main SMBC web site and put “coronavirus” into the enquiry box. On the page that comes up you will see boxes for information on
Business and employees support (still waiting for info but you can register for some things)
Council tax relief
Bin collections info
How to help your community

Other things to note:
Transport for Greater Manchester has removed the limits on concessionary fares so those people can travel at any time of day. Tram and bus timetables will change on Monday 23rd with fewer services. There are refunds available on season tickets/travelcards if you are not travelling now
Northern are likely to change their timetable with fewer trains. Check on their web site

Lastly and very sadly, some people are trying to exploit the situation. I’ve seen a mail on TV licence expiry trying to get bank details. It’s bogus. Make sure those who may not see through this are warned.

The Government have now published a list of critical workers where schools will still aim to provide education at the school. This appeared overnight and can be found on the government web site

https://www.gov.uk/government/topical-events/coronavirus-covid-19-uk-government-response

It’s not a list as such, but a series of descriptions. Stockport Council has published information about volunteering. Local groups are doing a great job. If you want to volunteer more broadly this is being co-ordinated by Healthwatch and Age UK.  Information and contacts for volunteering are at

www.stockport.gov.uk/communities

which includes advice to self-organising group locally

The council is working on all the government announcements and in many cases waiting for more information. You can see latest news from them on https://www.stockport.gov.uk/news/statement-on-covid-19  which has up to date info on a range of topics. The school closure and disruptions page on https://www.stockport.gov.uk/school-closures-and-disruptions  will also help in days to come. The list of those parents/carers classed as key workers will be published by the cabinet office today but is not known yet. Same applies to how councils are to help businesses via council tax and local assistance.
