Monday 28 June 2021: Pavilion Art Project Roundels Installation

It was wonderful for Friends of the Park to work with Tracy, Pete and Rhian from Art Stop today to install the roundel artwork painted by Marple people of all ages during the 2020 lockdown.

We are delighted with the outcome of this project and especially thankful to Tracy McGuinness-Kelly for her hard work, enthusiasm and ability to work in innovative ways to overcome the difficulties imposed by the Covid19 pandemic while complying with government guidelines at all times.

Thanks to everyone who contributed artwork - they are all wonderful but when displayed together become more than the sum of their parts.

Thanks also to the Macnair Trust for your contribution toward the funding for this project, and to all our volunteers who have helped in different ways.

We have a few small jobs to finish things off, then it's hopefully onwards and upwards for Phase II of this project.

Are they going to be covered with a protective screen to stop the idiots spraying them.
No they aren't. As usual we'll have to see how that goes.

Making good progress on the varnishing..

Each roundel needs 3 generous coats of Golden MSA high quality varnish letting them dry for 2 or 3 days in between coats. Then they need time to ‘cure’. The varnish really enhances the work bringing out the details. They are looking absolutely beautiful!

Lots of artists have reflected a Remembrance theme in their work for the Friends of Marple Memorial Park Pavilion Art Project but in so many different and imaginative ways.

Friends of the Park Pavilion Art Project Disc

Friends of the Park are absolutely delighted with our disc for the Friends of Marple Memorial Park Pavilion Art Project created from our brief by talented local artist Rob Fathers and inspired by our Remembrance Poppy Wreath laid this year.

Thank you Rob (seen below with the disc), you've done an amazing job!
