Part One...cont

In 1964 the school was extended and adapted to conform with the requirements of a full one form entry Primary School. After Mr. Martlew died in 1966 Mr. Stevens became Headteacher and he held the position until his retirement to the Isle of Man in 1982. Mr.Phillips, the deputy headteacher of the Dale Primary was appointed and when he moved in the summer of 1985 he was succeeded by Mr. Lee. The number on roll in the late 1980s and early 1990s was fairly stable with around 175 pupils being on the school’s register. This figure increased under Mr Lee and exceeded 200 for a number of years prior to Mr Lee’s retirement in 1999. It was during this period that the school celebrated its l5Oth Anniversary on the current site with a special week during which the children, parents and staff dressed in Victorian clothing, took part in appropriate lessons and a Sports’ Day. This memorable event confirmed the school as an important element of the Marple community. After a short period when All Saints’ Primary School had an acting headteacher, the governor’s appointed the first female head in the history of the school. Mrs Marriott took up her post in January, 2000.
