Eddie raised another £119 for the Marple Carnival Charities with his quiz last night, and just about managed to hang on to the Higher and Lower Prize too! Not sure who it's for next week or the one after but Peter will be back behind the mike next Wednesday.

Eddie Ashworth did a fine job this week and the quiz raised £88 for Marple Carnival Charities. Same cause and same quizmaster next week.

A quieter night, presumably thanks to Theo Walcott, saw £79 being added to last week's total and giving Marie Curie £192.50 altogether. Next week it's a special food and drink themed quiz for the Food Festival.

The £25000 barrier was broken, and the figure £96 comes to mind, even though the pub seemed busier last week than this?

£106 was raised for the North West Air Ambulance last night but not sure what was raised last week, as I missed the quiz, or if that £25,000 barrier was broken. I suspect it has been and when Peter sees this I'm sure he'll update us.

Another £122 was raised this week making a total of £233.50 for the Cure for Martha campaign. Next week is in aid of the North West Air Ambulance which will with a bit of luck take the Ring o' Bells quiz total past the landmark £25,000 mark!

The "Find a Cure for Martha" campaign to raise money for Kidney Research is £111.50 better off after the first of two quizzes at the Ring o' Bells. Same cause next week.

Incidentally, this is a good opportunity to mention that the Ring o' Bells has recently received a Great British Pub Award as the Best Community Pub in the North West. The Great British Pub Awards are run by the Morning Advertiser, the trade paper, and are said to be the Oscars of the pub world. Sue & Peter heard that they'd been short listed recently and then had a visit from the editor who told them verbally that they had won the NW title but to wait until it was confirmed in writing, which duly arrived last week. They will now travel to London, to the Park Lane Hilton, for the finals where they compete for the titles: National Community Pub of the year, NW Pub of the year and possibly National Pub of the year!

I'm sure that their fund-raising efforts detailed in this thread have played a big part in their winning the North West Community Pub of the Year title and we wish them luck in the finals.

£98 was raised for Well Spring last night, giving a nice round total of £210 over two weeks. The next fortnight's quizzes will raise funds for the "Find a Cure for Martha" campaign.

Nearly forgot! Last Wednesday's quiz raised £82.50 for St. Ann's Hospice and the next one will hopefully do the same or better.

The Donkey Sanctuary are £82 better off from this weeks quiz. The H&L was won too and the generous winner donated another £40 to the donkeys.

We had a pole about where the money from the last 2 weeks should go following the no show from Mencap and it was a 3 way tie! As a result Otterspool Animal Haven, The Lymphoma Assoc. & The Retired Greyhounds are all £53 better off too.

Donkeys again this week.

A further £69 was raised at last night's quiz, however, as nobody from Mencap turned up this week or last week there will be a customer vote on which alternative charity the money should be given to. The cause over the coming two weeks is the Donkey Sanctuary.
