The next two Ring o' Bells Quiz Nights will raise money for the Friends of Marple Memorial Park, so it would be great if there was good attendance. Any money raised will be used for improvements to the park. You can see the kinds of things we've done in the past on the Friends' web site at www.marplememorialpark.org.uk

The Quiz starts at 9pm and comprises a picture round, 20 general knowledge questions and 10 audio music questions. First prize is eight drinks (which must be consumed on the night - although taking them as bottles is permitted) and second prize varies but is usually a bottled drink of some kind each.

Entry fee is £1, all of which goes to the charitable cause. There is also an "Open the Box" raffle game and a "Snowball Question" which means you may get really lucky too!

marveld,
Thank you for the good luck message.
Anita and I will be running both the Hatters and the Ring O'Bells until a new Tenant has been appointed to take over the Hatters. Steve and Julie, our Holiday relief couple will be managing the Hatters on our behalf in the mean time. There will be pictures of the Marple and Hawk Green Brass Bands and other pictures of Marple etc. put up in the Ring O’ Bells.
In the summer months we will be promoting Sunday afternoon Brass Band Concerts in the garden to raise much need funds for the Brass Bands of Marple Charity Organization. You can visit our website
www.ringobellsmarple.com for more information.

Mark, good luck with the Ringers. I'm an occasional pub person, but the Hatter's and the Railway are my choices (closest to home, but also nice to frequent). I also visit the Ringers (room on the right).

Is there a new landlord going into The Hatter's on the 5th Jan? Are Peter and Sue leaving some of Marple's history hanging on the walls?

Anita and I would like to take this opportunity to congratulate Peter and Sue Clarke, and all the regular Quiz teams at the Ring O' Bells in raising the fantastic sum of £31,033.51p for Local Charities.
We would like to announce that from the 5th January 2010 Anita and I will be taking over the tenancy of the Ring O' Bells, and will be carrying on with the Wednesday night Charity Quiz's and a new prize money game, Take Your Pick, of which 50% of the ticket sales will go to the nominated Charity.
The Quiz will be in the same format with a £1 entry per person in each team.
There will also be a Snowball Question, 50p to enter, answer the single question correct and you win the Snowball money. If there is no correct answer the money rolls over to the next week.
If your Charity organization wishes to be included in 2010 Quiz Night events, please contact Mark or Anita Singleton on 0161 427 2300 from the 5th January.

Mark Singleton.

Well that's it!! Last night saw the last Ring o' Bells quiz hosted by us and what a send off it was with a packed pub and 29 teams!!
The quiz raised a fantastic £94 for Ludworth & Mellor cubs. we then went into an exciting H&L to a finish playing for the complete kitty which with the nights sales (150 tickets) was a staggering £392. After a number of close calls it was eventually won on the 20 oddth ticket by one of our longest serving teams. Of course this raised another £75 for the cubs making a total of £169 on the night.

Sue & I would like to thank you all for your support for the quiz over the 8 years that we have presented it. Your generosity has seen an unbelievable £31,033.50 raised for various local charities, WELL DONE!!

As you probably know we leave the Ringers on 5th Jan so thanks to you all, it's been a really fun time! :-)

Mellor & Ludworth cubs get £80,50 from this weeks quiz. Same cause next week.

Speaking of next week did we mention that it is the last quiz hosted by Peter & Sue? Be there early, we're expecting a decent turnout!

Forgot to put the second Xmas Cracker result and have lost my bit of paper! I will check with them but it was somewhere around £90. H&L seemed to go on forever before it was won!!!

Last week was for the Big Umbrella, a theatre group for people with learning disabilities and raised £75, not bad considering we were competing with City v Arsenal! Same again this week.

First week for the Xmas Cracker raised £87 and the Higher Lower game was won. Next week we are running the H&L game to a finish so somebody is definitely going home with another £100

Congratulations to the Ringers, for passing over £30,000 since the quiz nights started, that is quite a achievement for just one pub to do. Well done to all involved in this.  :)

New Horizons were the lucky receipients of not just the £71 raised at a reasonably quiet quiz but their team won £100 on the H&L which they added to make a fantastic £171 in total. Same cause next week.
