We should also look to support this.

The Rose Hill train service was, until recently, a real success story. A classic case of 'improve service, attract more customers'.

The current timetable is a retrograde step and something that really shouldn't be happening in a COP26 world. We should be encouraging more use of rail, not less (Covid notwithstanding).
Words are trains for passing through what really has no name...

The December 2021 timetable has been published with no improvement in the service for Rose Hill. We still have a mainly hourly service with some half hourly trains in an off peak illogical pattern. Important rush hour services are missing - the 07.45 departure to Manchester and the 17.38 from Piccadilly. There is still no late evening or Sunday service.  Because of this poor service, passenger numbers are down 60% on pre-COVID levels, far more than other lines in the area. This is particularly annoying as passenger traffic had increased by 27% from 2016 to an all-time high in 2019.

We believe there will be no improvement in the next timetable revision in May 2022 and, even worse, Northern has published timetable proposals for December 2022 which show the same limited service. These proposals are open to consultation until 31/12/21 by:

The Friends of Rose Hill Station believe that Northern will not provide a decent rail service on our line - not even a return to the pre-COVID timetable - unless there is enormous public pressure on them to do so. You can make your opinion known via the consultation (link above) or by signing the petition which will be forwarded to politicians and rail bodies who can influence the timetable decisions.
