Candidates for Local Councillor Elections in May 2021
« Reply #1 on: April 09, 2021, 06:48:34 AM »
This section of the forum, first set-up for the 2016 elections, has now been re-badged in preparation for the Local Councillor Elections in May 2021.

Councillors reaching the end of their terms:

As most will know, councillor elections in 2020 were postponed and the councillors coming to the end of their normal 4 year term in May 2020 have served for another 12 months.

Tom Dowse, incumbent Conservative Councillor for Marple South and High Lane, is not standing for re-election.

Incumbent Marple North Councillor Malcolm Allan is standing for re-election in May.

So who are the candidates for the two places up for grabs in 2021?

Marple North Candidates:

Incumbent Councillor @Malcolm Allan (LibDem); former Councillor Annette Finnie (Conservative) @Carolyn Leather (Green Party) and Peter Towey (Labour).

Marple South and High Lane Candidates:

Former Councillor Shan Alexander (LibDem); @DarranPalmer (Conservative); Andrew Threadfall (Green Party) and Paul Wright (Labour).

Introductions:

The following Candidates introduced themselves to us before the elections were postponed last year but we would welcome an update:

Shan Alexander: Liberal Democrat candidate for Marple South and High Lane

Carolyn Leather: Green Party Candidate for Marple North

Cllr Malcolm Allan: Liberal Democrat Candidate for Marple North

The remaining candidates are welcome to introduce themselves too. Do get in touch if you need help with this.

Here are the formal notices:
