Heres some splendid news for you Jay and anyone else interested.
Street Lighting have assured me that tonight or tomorrow the lights will be on and we will be able to walk Middlewood Way "fully illuminated" and hopefully in safety (Hence the work reported by Jay)

So lets use Rose Hill Station more than we do at present.

Thank you Street Lighting for a prompt response.

WOW! I saw some men working on the lights yesterday so I took a wonder down when it got dark and there working! That's what I call a fast turnaround!  '<img'>

The recreation Department will now ask United Utilities how quickly UU can connect the street lights to the "National Grid" and get those lights working - and get on with it !!!

I've never seen those lights on either. Now it's coming up to darker nights wouldn't it be sensible to use them. I use this route regularly as it knocks off about 10 minutes of my journey but if the lights don't work then I think I'll be going the old road way again!  '<img'>

A correction and my apologies, the portion of Middlewood Way to Rose Hill Station is NOT laid with limestone chippings as I was led to believe. It has been laid with gravel ( I've looked) on top of the tarmac and looks in keeping with a "linear park" - well done.

BUT lets have those lights lit to encourage residents to use Rose Hill Station.

A short length of Middlewood Way from Wood Lane car park has been "changed" in the recent past, I say recent past because the exact dates are vague, but lets say in the last six months.
- The surface has been tarmacced, but has now reverted to limestone chippings laid over the tarmac.
- "street lighting" has been erected along this stretch, but as yet have never been "turned on".
- "Tubular structures" have erected at the Wood Lane end.
- A public toilet has been created at the Rose Hill Station end of the Way "open at certain times !!!", sometimes closed, perhaps because the local vandals have been active.

The Recreation staff have done some excellent work (in conjunction with help and encouragement from a small band of Middlewood Way fans who have since faded away), but what on earth is going on with this stretch of Middlewood Way?

I applaud the work that the wardens are doing, now giving the former picnic area some tlc, by the way I think the "poop box" which used to be sited near the access from Woodville Drive needs to be replaced, thanks to the persons who left the large bin bags by the way, lots of imagination there !!! (lets hope they are emptied at some point)

Perhaps someone reading this note might know just what is going on and tell us which plan they're working to this week.

Always remember, the Council own nothing, but simply manage public property on the residents (the real owner) behalf.

Have a good day,
