Some of the worst parking at anytime of the day has to be on the zig zag lines for the crossing by the post office, just bone idle Marple residents thinking they can do as they please once again.

Awful parking around the entrance to Haig Bar school on Strines road too.

I think the parking out side Harrods is just selfish. The carpark is a minute away.
And if you're lucky you can find a space just round the corner on Trinity Street.

The most dangerous place to try to park or walk in Marple in my opinion and bar none is ASDA's car park.
I second that. I parked there yesterday when I took some stuff to the charity shop and took my life in my hands!

Try parking in the Chadwick St. carpark on a Saturday without buying a ticket and you will see one.  They prowl the streets and often put penalty notices notices on cars parked on double yellow lines.
I got one when I accidentally over-stayed on the library car park a couple of months ago. 70 squid - ouch! I learned my lesson!

I see the warden on there quite often and also on the Derby Street car park.

I wish they'd put  a penalty notice on that damned "school bus". It was parked almost on top of the pedestrian crossing (about 4-5 feet away) on the Hibbert Lane extension AGAIN today! Back end sticking right out into the road.

We have a local traffic warden? If we do, he certainly keeps himself well hidden. I don't think I've ever walked through Marple and not seen vehicles parked illegally, and I've only seen a traffic warden 3 times in 30 years. .

My husband spoke to the local traffic warden regarding the parking on Strines Road/Oldknow Road junction and he replied it's not his jurisdiction as he only does yellow lines infringements!!. Speak to the council or police.

Can I add...

Visitors to the URC church parking on double yellows on Hibbert Lane right up to the junction of Lyme Grove, so drivers exiting Lyme Grove you can't see a thing. (Same map as Russ's post).

The offending vehicles usually have disabled badges, but surely they should still obey Highway Code rules and not park at junctions.

Worst place for accidents & I've seen several there recently, is the Junction of Trinity street & Church lane. Cars coming out of Trinity street can't see what's coming up because of cars parked opposite the Garage & can't see what's coming down because of cars & Vans parked outside of Harrods. I'm surprised nothing has been done to make it safer.

1. Cars parked on Strines Road at the Oldknow Road junction making it impossible for cars trying to turn right out of Oldknow Road to see traffic coming from the Strines side.

2. HGVs delivering to Travis Perkins and a school bus (in term time) parking on double yellow lines on the "new road"/Hibbert Lane extension near the pedestrian crossing, obstructing vision of drivers travelling towards Stockport Road and a danger to pedestrians using the crossing.

3. College users parking across the road from the college on Buxton Lane on a bend, making it a blind spot for traffic  travelling in both directions. Bad now and it's going to get worse.

(And don't get me started on speed limits being ignored)

Rant over.
