Excellent news!  The equipment has been looking a bit tired recently.  I never really did figure out what the things with four chains were for!

In conjunction with Stockport Council, Friends of Marple Memorial Park have secured a £25,000 grant towards a new children's play area in the park. The Friend's have also been awarded match-funding of an additional £25,000 from 'Living Spaces', giving a fantastic total of £50,000 to spend on the play area.

The Friends and the Council now need the help of local people to determine the sort of equipment that those who will use it would most like to have included in the new play area. Consultation is taking place in Marple Library and in local schools to ask people to choose their favorite piece of equipment in several different categories. They would also like to know if there is any equipment that you've seen in another park that you really liked, and to describe it to them so that it may be considered for inclusion in the plans for Memorial Park.

If you have young children, or grand-children even, who would have an interest in this, please help them to fill in the On-line Consultation at www.marplememorialpark.org.uk
