Young Enterprise seeking Business Mentors for Marple Hall

Posted on behalf of Suzanne Fairbairn, YE Manager:

Young Enterprise are looking for volunteers to support at Marple Hall High School with a fantastic programme that is giving the opportunity for a group of young people in Year 10 to set up and run their own business for a year.

This programme is proven to improve the employability of the young people who take part.

As a business mentor you would be asked to attend the school once a week or fortnight for an hour (3pm – 4pm) and work with the students to guide them in running their business.  Training and support is provided by Young Enterprise.  As a business owner or someone who has worked in any industry for a few years, you would be the perfect candidate.  Giving skills and knowledge to the next generation, on your doorstep.

Benefits for Volunteers include:

  • Skills development such as facilitation, consulting, problem solving, communication, and project management.
  • Opportunity to further develop business knowledge whilst gaining experience within the public sector/UK education system
  • Opportunity to share skills and knowledge with the local community, and help develop the next generation of business leaders
  • Opportunity to develop local talent for the business in which they work
  • Raised profile within their organisation
  • Opportunity to make new contacts for your own business through the YE volunteer network and local events organised by local volunteer boards

If you are interested or would just like further information then please take a look at our website www.y-e.org.uk and contact Suzanne.fairbairn@y-e.org.uk
