The man who really put Marple on the map. Start here:
Marple UK, Samuel Oldknow pages
There is lots of information on the Marple UK pages and if you come to Marple, a visit to the excellent local bookshop will give to lots of opportunity to pick up a lot more of the history of Marple from books published by enthusiastic local historians.

I am researching my family surname OLDKNOW.  It has brought me to Marple.  Our family history and history that I can varify differs.  Anyone with ANY information on the OLDKNOW's in this area would be great!  I am also interested in a Sarah Ann Hind b.abt 1769 and d.4/5/1851 and how she may be connected with a Samuel or John Oldknow.
