I guess this is a bit of a controversial view but what can be done regarding re-educating the parents of these teenagers. When I was their age (now I know I am old using phrases like that!'<img'>) there is no way I would be allowed out that late and I also remember me and most of my schoolfriends being most scared of anything getting back to our parents about what we had been up to.
I guess the world has changed but I do get frustrated when I see people blaming the police, the schools etc for the behaviour of youngsters but not looking a little closer to home.
Ok floodgates have now been opened - I am ready to be shouted down!

After reading what alan@marple had wrote concerning the problems outside the branch of Barclays I thought I would also comment upon a similar problem.

This problem however is taking place at the 24hr Texaco with a group of teenagers how seem to enjoy shouting and screaming, granted there may not be a lot that can be done about this but surely if this is carrying on till 3 or 4 O'clock in the morning then something can be done.  It's not just the shouting it's also the bottles that are being thrown at the petrol station, throwing of stones, branches and any other item that is not nailed down at the surrounding residential homes.

All this seems to be in an attempt to goad the police and get them to chase them through the passageway that is adjacent to the petrol station. When, sorry I should say IF the police do come within view of the teenagers they hurl abuse at them, ranging from "pigs"; "coppers"; several swear words which cannot be repeated on this site but in most situations the police just ignore this and drive off.

Isn't it about time that the police started to act before it gets total out of hand and someone gets hurts?

These teenagers think the local police are a joke.

I support the view of anon at Marple, with regards to the young people hanging around Texaco during the evening, late hours and early morning. Similar scenario's will be seen at the Hollins and the Memorial Park.

I have not read lately of prosecutions for obstruction of the highway, wilfull or otherwise.Neither have I read of any action being taken about skateboarding and cycling on the footpath.

I would be interested to hear or read what the community safety officer has to advise in this matter

Dont see why you would be shouted down I perfectly agree with your statement it can be directly linked to parents and such like as why a child is the way they are!

Like you I never hung around on street corners as a teenager basically because it wasnt safe!!
