Wiilows School Rambling Club Reunion
« Reply #1 on: April 23, 2010, 08:46:34 PM »
The Willows School 'Rambling Club'
Back in 1956 the Willows Secondary Modern School in Marple had a 'Rambling Club'
The inspiration and idea for the club was due to Mr Frank Mason a teacher at the school.
It was not long before we, Mr Mason and his Helpers were organising 'Rambling Club Holidays'
Frank Mason’s daughter Anne recently discovered Frank’s old photographs and notes that he had made at
the time. Anne was able to put them all on the Marple Web Site for everyone to view at

Two of the girls from the original group, Christine Crabtree and Margaret Andrew, were looking at the
Marple Website last (Year 2009) and they thought that it would be great to meet up again and have a
reunion of the Rambling club members, or indeed any pupils from that time ie.1956 to 1960.

Chris and Margaret have been busy contacting their fellow school friends and have made some contacts through the 'Marple Website' and also 'Friends Re-United.' However there must be a few more folk that we have not been able to trace so if you are reading this and would like to join the Party:

Please contact Chris e-mail:-
Or Tel 07805 555 343 or 01544 318427

The date for the reunion is Saturday May 15th, meeting at
Oak Field Lodge, 38, Arkwright Rd Marple.

The plan is to meet there at 2pm for a chat and catch up on the ‘Good Old Days’ and perhaps a wander through Brabyns Park, suggestions welcome. Please bring your photos.

The Proprietor of Oak Lodge, Lorraine will provide a Buffet supper for the evening so if you wish to join us
later that will be O.K. The Buffet will be Approx £8.00 per head.

I will need numbers so PLEASE let me Know if you will be coming by Saturday 8th May.
