The agenda for the Marple Area Committee Meeting on Wednesday 31 January has been published.

As usual doors open around 5.30pm and the meeting starts at 6pm.

As part of a Working Group Review last year the Area Committee agreed to engage more with the Marple Website to try and raise awareness and promote the meetings.

As an outcome of this the new Marple Website features a new page about Marple AC that tries to explain in simple terms what they do and how you can get involved.

That page is here: http://www.marple.website/marple-area-committee.html

The new page includes a map of the Marple Wards so you can see exactly where the boundaries of Marple North and Marple South and High Lane are. It also features a live feed from the Stockport Council web site at the bottom that shows links to the latest agendas issued, meetings held etc.

For ease, here is a direct link to the agenda too:

http://democracy.stockport.gov.uk/ieListDocuments.aspx?CId=138&MId=23206&Ver=4

And finally, a link to the Marple Area Committee page on the council site: www.stockport.gov.uk/mac

The webcast of last night's Marple Area Committee Meeting is now available for viewing:

https://stockport.public-i.tv/core/portal/webcast_interactive/321571/

You can listen to discussions in full from the start or jump to an item of your choice via the menu down the right-hand side.

Chair @CllrKennyBlair was wearing his Christmas jumper but it soon got serious with one of the longest items I've even witnessed.

There was a very good presentation from Marple Neighbourhood Forum too.

Can anybody just turn up to these meetings to observe or do you have to book/contact somebody?

Anyone can attend to observe and on some topics you may be able to interact with the committee, so do go along to discover what it's all about. You can also watch on-line or catch-up on-line as the meetings are webcast.

The Future of Manchester Airport -  There is no public transport that works for people living in Marple and working in the Airport area.   This needs addressing due to the number of jobs being created by the likes of Amazon near the airport.   However it is hard, as most of the jobs are not within walking distance of the bus stops at the airport.
I know that this is not marple area but the 330 bus ashton  every other one from ashton now runs to the airport ihave been informed of this today .it goes to bus station stockport then
to airport only been running two weeks dont have a timetable as yet will look  on the website for info on this .

There is another Area Committee Meeting announced by email this morning at High Lane Village Hall this Wednesday 23rd November.

Looking at the agenda, this one looks like it will focus on the A6 Relief Road (A6MARR):

http://democracy.stockport.gov.uk/ieListDocuments.aspx?MId=25231&EVT=105

There is also one at High Lane next Wednesday 30th to discuss the Greater Manchester Spacial Framework and the same topic will be covered at Marple on 14th December.

Meetings start at 6pm.

The agenda for the next Marple Area Committee to be held on Wednesday 9 November, 2016 can be viewed on the Council website at:

http://democracy.stockport.gov.uk/ieListDocuments.aspx?MId=8959&EVT=105

There will be two Open Forum discussions – the first is on the Future of Manchester Airport where Wendy Sinfield (Manchester Airport Group) will attend and provide an update on issues affecting Manchester Airport and the Marple area. The second on the Council’s Medium Term Financial Plan.

Have your say on the proposals of the Greater Manchester Spatial Framework.
In addition, residents will have the opportunity to engage with Council staff at a drop-in session just before the Area Committee Meeting (from 5pm) where they can talk about the GMSF proposals and what they mean for Marple / Stockport. See more below:
