The Future of Manchester Airport -  There is no public transport that works for people living in Marple and working in the Airport area.   This needs addressing due to the number of jobs being created by the likes of Amazon near the airport.   However it is hard, as most of the jobs are not within walking distance of the bus stops at the airport.

The agenda for the next Marple Area Committee to be held on Wednesday 9 November, 2016 can be viewed on the Council website at:

http://democracy.stockport.gov.uk/ieListDocuments.aspx?MId=8959&EVT=105

There will be two Open Forum discussions – the first is on the Future of Manchester Airport where Wendy Sinfield (Manchester Airport Group) will attend and provide an update on issues affecting Manchester Airport and the Marple area. The second on the Council’s Medium Term Financial Plan.

Have your say on the proposals of the Greater Manchester Spatial Framework.
In addition, residents will have the opportunity to engage with Council staff at a drop-in session just before the Area Committee Meeting (from 5pm) where they can talk about the GMSF proposals and what they mean for Marple / Stockport. See more below:

Area Committee News

Please note that there will be an extraordinary meeting of the Area Committee on Wednesday 23 November 2016 in High Lane Village Hall at 6pm specifically to discuss the A6MARR Complimentary and Mitigation Measures. An agenda and background information will be published the week prior to the meeting.

In addition, the Area Committee will be holding the fifth in a series of Open Forums at the  next meeting on Wednesday 9 November 2016 at 6.00pm in Marple Senior Citizens Hall. The co-chairs of the Area Committee have accepted a request by representatives of Manchester Airport to attend and report on the way that aircraft currently operate, how they currently affect your area and airspace in the future associated with navigation changes. This is the first time that representatives of the Airport have attended the Area Committee meeting and residents are encouraged to attend and contribute to the debate.

Details sent regarding next Open Forum at next Marple Area Committee on 16th March.

Marple Area Committee held the first of a number of Open Forum discussions throughout 2016 at their February meeting. The first topic was Traffic Congestion and Parking in the District and Local Centres. It was extremely well attended and there was lively debate with lots of issues raised. A summary of the issues can be viewed in the published minutes of the meeting at www.stockport.gov.uk/democracy

At the next meeting, the topic for discussion will be a Neighbourhood Plan for Marple. As part of a weeklong event to raise awareness about Neighbourhood Planning organised by Marple Civic Society, representatives of the Society have been invited to attend the Area Committee and make a presentation. The meeting will take place on Wednesday 16 March 2016 at 6pm in Marple Senior Citizens Hall, Memorial Park, Marple and you are more than welcome to attend.

The exhibition will be held in Marple Library from the 14th March 2016 from 10am to 4pm each day, Monday – Saturday with members of the Civic Society, Cllr Sue Ingham (Chair of the Area Committee) and other local Councillors in attendance to answer questions and encourage visitors to get involved.

For more information about Neighbourhood Plan for Marple contact Cllr Sue Ingham on cllr.susan.ingham@stockport.gov.uk or visit the Civic Society website www.marplecivicsociety.org.uk
