POLICE are appealing for the public's help to trace a pensioner missing from her Stockport home.

Patricia Smith, 73, was last seen at her home on Bramhall Moor Lane, Stockport, at around 11.45am on Thursday (27 March), after telling her husband she was going to visit friends.

She is described as white, 5ft 8in tall of slim build with long dark brown hair and hazel eyes. She was wearing a red and black baseball cap, black jacket, trousers and shoes when she went missing.

Police Sergeant Richie Bell from Stockport police said: "Patricia going missing is totally out of character. She has been away from her home overnight and her husband and other friends and family are understandably concerned, as are we.

"Patricia spent 20 years living on a barge with her husband before moving to Stockport. As such I would appeal to anyone living on or near canals and waterways to keep a look out for her as she has an affinity with the water and may be drawn there."

Anyone with any information is asked to call Greater Manchester Police on 0161 872 50 50.
