Do the police think they work for insurance companies, giving crime numbers out ,or do some intend working for the people, and solving a crime.

You're spot on about the paperwork, Cyberman.  And in answer to Steve's very good question (above), the answer is no.  If you know anyone who works in the Police (or other public services such as the NHS, or education) they all say the same thing - the only thing that matters now is meeting your targets.    '<img'>

I agree entirely.

We live near the Church Lane roundabout. Several years ago we did have serious vandalism (broken car mirrors/aerials etc). This did improve - but now it's getting worse again. Fri/Sat evg there is the familiar sound of drunken yobs finding their way home from their lairs in the park and behind Iceland. Next morning there's the broken bottles, discarded Bargain Booze bags and piles of puke left behind.

The Police are NEVER around in the evening when their presence might be useful. But, on the plus side, they will happily come to your house to take details of the crime and quiz you on your ethnic background. Got to keep the paperwork correct....

I  have had my window broken, by drunks leaving The Crown 28/1/08,the police gave me a crime number and told me the file will be closed pending further information. I have further information and tried to contact the policeman in charge of case 19/2/08 no response, 28/2/08 no response, 7/3/08 no response.
