The following article, about The Oddfellows is on the beerintheevening website..

Beautiful old Inn with mullioned windows and stone flagged floors. Excellent food and a great range of guest ales. Also nice wine list. However impending change on the horizon with a long list of independent caring landlords rumoured to be replaced by the monolithic Enterprise Inns. This could only be a retrograde step. Visit it now whille you can.

Yet another Marple (Mellor) pub being ruined...

Try the Oddfellows in Moor End (Mellor).  Their upstairs restaurant is about the right size and it doesn't open every evening, so I assume they would take a private do.

We got married in Vegas ( very Rock n Roll! ) and after our honeymoon came back and had a fantastic reception meal at Woodheys in their big private room. The food was excellent.

Woodheys is now called Peruga and here's a link.

If Indian was acceptable then the Kinaray has an upstairs room that would accomodate that number and they would probably be happy to make it private.

After many years together we have decided to get hitched.  It's a small registry office wedding and we'd like to go for a meal somewhere afterwards.  Does anyone know of a restaurant in the local area which has a private(ish) room for about 16 people?

Any advice appreciated as we're stuck!

Thanks

Tina, If you married before 1991? I was the landlord of the Navigation from 1966 till June 1991, I would have done your wedding. I used to do at least 20 weddings a year in those days.
The person who is looking for a place to hold a wedding for 20 persons, My son is a fully qualified chef and is the landlord of the Hatters Arms, he had the experience of catering for weddings when he was with me at the Navigation. He was four years old when I took over the Navi.
Call and see him you will be pleasantly surprised.

Tina,
Jim took over the Navi after the person who took over off me.
I am afraid that person let the standard slip and lost a lot of regular bookings. I catered for two monthly bank managers dinners plus one of the two Rotary clubs that had their dinners and meetings weekly. Sadly they were no longer there when Jim took over. He was a good bloke and like me had been in catering for most of his working life.
