Spoke to Cliff Goodwin last night, (his father was the Joe Goodwin DCM talked of the article). I mentioned the above and there seems to be no connection. Joe Goodwin was exactly that ie. Joe not Joseph, and Cliff tells me he has no other relatives on that side. Sorry Derek, it would have been nice to have made a connection but there you go.

i am looking for links or information in regard to george goodwin who in 1881 census was living in queen st marple. with his wife and  two sons,the youngest,joseph,is my grandfather.more children were born later and included two more boys,has onyone got any other info,i,e,did the family originaly come from taxal.many thanks------------------------------------------------dhall@accessin.com.au

Have you seen the article in our Community News section about Joe Goodwin? Could this be your grandfather? If you haven't, click this link to see it.

The Goodwin family still live in Marple and Peter, who wrote the article, knows them quite well. With a bit of luck when he get round to checking the forum later today he'll be able to tell you more.
