A basic search for WAINE's in Marple brought up 4 wills, 2 of which look like they could be of interest to you.

WAINE, John of MARPLE,  PROVISION DEALER  1876
WAINE, George of  MARPLE,  PUBLICAN  1874
WAINE, Robert of  MARPLE,  WEAVER  1815
WAINE, Edward of  MARPLE, ROSE HILL  GENTLEMAN  1838

I believe my 4xggrandfather was named John WAINE although I've yet to discover the name of his wife.  

MY John WAINE was born c1813 and was living in Brick Row, Marple in 1881.  He was already widowed at this time and living with his unmarried daughter Elizabeth WAINE born c1854
Staying with him on census night was his grandson George ASHTON born c1873.
I believe George's mother was Alice ASHTON (nee WAINE?)c1847. who was living a few doors away with her husband and the rest of the family on census night.

Hi Marple,

I am looking for any relative of John Waine who married Hannah Hall of (I think) Canal Buildings.
George and Hannah had George Waine in 1847 at Canal Buildings.
John was a Block Cutter in 1847. When George married  Lucy Gooch at St Martins he was a shop keeper c1876.

Can anyone help me confirm that all the Waine families living in Marple 1881 were / are sons and daughters of John and Hannah.
What type of shop did John have around 1876?
What is a Block Cutter? (Is it a person who cut stone for building the canals?)
Was Brabins Hall (the home of Anne Hudson in 1881) ever used as a hotel?

This address was given as the residence for George Waine and Lucy Gooch on there Marriage in 1876.
As George was a Railway Clerk in 1876 I do not think he would be working at the Hall but who knows!

I hope some kind sole can answer some or all the above questions.
