160th Anniversary of Narrowboat "Maria"
On the 20th May 2014 the horse drawn barge Maria, believed to be the oldest surviving wooden narrowboat, arrived at Marple's historic aqueduct on the Peak Forest Canal, on its 160 year anniversary journey of being built at Jinks' boatyard at Top Lock in Marple, and onward around the Cheshire Ring. Arthur Procter was there to take the photos so that those of us who missed it can share the experience:

Isn't it great to see the horse tunnel being used for the reason it was built!
