Gee Family from Romiley
« Reply #1 on: November 30, 2004, 10:33:41 PM »
This message and photos are posted on behalf of Ruth Beck. It would be great if anyone could help Ruth in her quest to learn more about her relatives from the area.

Below is a photo of a lady I believe to be "Martha Bardsley Kenyon Gee", born in Romiley, 1858 and died in Godley, 1897. I am researching the Gee family, dating back to Peter Gee born in 1863, in Romiley, who married Sarah Swindells, also born in Romiley, 1767. Martha was the wife of Edwin Gee, the son of Henry Gee, of Greave Fold. Last known address for Edwin was 6 Fern Street, Werneth. (1901 census).
I would appreciate any help in identifying the woman in the photograph, as Martha Gee was my great-Grandmother.
Thank you in advance, Ruth

In addition, this is a photo of the marriage of  Edwin Gee to Mary Ann Fletcher, nee Band, in 1899. Edwin's first wife, Martha Kenyon Gee, died in 1897, in Godley. Annie Gee, Edwin's daughter, age 8,  sits on the lawn in front of her father.
Walter Haughton may have been the best man, and Margaret Band was the witness.

The Gee's were from Romiley.
