Haddock v cod ..... it gets worse.

My back up team of research assistant, librarian and catering manager onthe East Coast of Yorkshire suggest:

Possibly because haddock was easier to obtain fresh - cod needed to be salted for storage and travel at one time - closer to source in East Coast fishing ports

Maybe because it was cheaper (Obviously heard things about Yorkshire folk!'<img'>

Does it make a difference they are both members of the cod family and they all look the same battered

Anyway the general opinion is we prefer Hollands steak puddings instead!

Heather, well occassionally I do go "out" to work, but it is certainly much easier to stay "in" to work! If fact I'm out over the next couple of days, so I hope you all don't miss me tooooooo much  '<img'>

I was in the chippy this lunch time (must have been all this talk of food!'<img'>, disappointed that there was no haddock, but lovely f&c anyway.  Now my wife comes from Yorkshire, where haddock, not cod, is the norm, why is that?

Aha! Can't keep me away!

Right, in a Heather Style:

One: I am based from home - commute time is 12 seconds to get to the office through the kitchen!
Two: Discount on chips (and haddock) sounds very good, do I need to quote a secret password???  '<img'>
Three: This does seem to be turning into a lunatic asylum! Tina - run away!

Heather, are you now thinking of having the Condensed Milk Fudge with a bag of discounted chips?

PS, I agree Goyt Mill chippy is the best in Marple.
PPS, We seem to have come full circle - from fishing waters to fish and chips!
 ''  ''

HeHe I've been following this since Heather's first question!
Makes me laugh, Wardie I have to agree, I even clicked on the link in fascination to see how to make  Condensed Milk Fudge! I have no intention of making it but it does look yummy!  Heather if you make some perhaps you could send a slice to all your followers  ':p'   By the way next time you come for your tea at the chippy I will say hello! Susan went to school with my sis  '<img'>

Welcome Water Rat to this insanity  '<img'>

I'm now trying to work out which is worse:

1. Water Rat searching the net for a Condensed Milk Fudge recipe.
2. Somebody posting a Condensed Milk Fudge recipe on the net, complete with photos of every stage.
3. Me actually following the link Water Rat posted even though I have no interest or intention of cooking Condensed Milk Fudge!

Maybe this should become a poll?

Anyway, back to work ......

I may regret this ..... fudge has a habit of sticking to pans and burning.  But looking at the posts to date what's new.

Try the link below - it even has piccies to look at and compare your results.

My advice is stick to searching for fishing pools.

Okay if you start cooking tea on fridays i will be bring the hammer and chisel again. The grandkids need to eat something not just sweets and rubbish thanks mum.
I can't wait for sunday dinners at yours which means that i don't have to cook and i can get out of doing the pots afterwards. '<img'>
