Our informant also advised that because of the difficulties this would cause to commuters and the likely impact on property values and local business, the council will be meeting in an emergency session early next week to discuss a substantial reduction in Council Tax for anyone who is effected by the closure. - even if the rest were true I'm sure we wouldn't get a Council Tax refund!
Having said all that, what are those blue tubes for? The hoax wasn't so elaborate that I put them there Mike, and I suspect that their purpose is to monitor the bank's subsidence, which although not as dramatic as I made out does still seem to be a problem. Perhaps there's a element of prophesy in this tall tale?
