2010 Marple & Mellor Calendar Competition

Would you like a credited photograph of yours to be seen in countless countries around the world?

Marple Promotions in co-operation with The Marple Website are running a competition to find new pictures for their 2010 Marple & Mellor Calendar.

What do you have to do?

Simple, just take a picture of anywhere in the Marple & Mellor District that you think would grace our next calendar and send it to us. If we think it good enough to feature in next year's edition then that’s what will happen!!

Obviously we are looking for great photos but our top tips to give you the best chance of being selected are:

Ensure that the location is recognisably in Marple, Mellor & District.
We will be looking for scenes that reflect the 4 seasons / 12 months of the year.
Photos must not have been previously published.
The closing date is 31 May 2009.

About the Marple & Mellor Calendar

The Marple and Mellor Calendar has been published by Marple Promotions / The Marple Website since 2003. Profits from the calendar and from Marple Promotions other activities are used to fund the Marple Website's running costs but for several years there has been a surplus which has allowed us to support a number of local causes that we believe to be worthy.

In 2005/6 we donated £1,200 towards the Iron Bridge Restoration Project match funding. In 2006/7 we were able to donate £500 to the Friends of Marple Memorial Park and £500 to Marple Locks Heritage Society. The Friends of the Park used their share to create a replica Memorial Stone on the outside of the Bowling Green shelter built by ex-servicemen returning home from the First World War. Marple Locks Heritage Society put their share towards a cast bronze plaque that will dedicate the 'Lock 17' flowerbed display on Oldknow Gardens in memory of the late Gordon Mills. In 2007/8 we contributed £1,000 to the new Infants Play Area in Marple Memorial Park and in 2008/9 we donated £1,000 to the 'Find a Cure for Martha' campaign for Kidney Research, Marple Business Forum's nominated charity for 2008. We hope to continue supporting local causes like these and your photographic contributions to the 2010 calendar should help us to do this.
