NATIONWIDE COMMUNITY AND HERITAGE AWARDS
Nationwide Building Society in association with the Heritage Lottery Fund

In early August 2008 Ann Hearle (seen above being presented her award by Neville Brownlee of the Heritage Lottery Fund) became the ‘Heritage Hero’ for the North West.
Ann will now go forward as a National Finalist to the Tower of London in November.

She had been invited as a finalist, but was worried because she received two letters, one saying she had not been successful. The other that she was a Community Champion. The ceremony went through all 18 awards, 3 x 3 for community group, young person and individual and 3 x 3 for heritage without Ann being called up. Then she was called up to receive the award as Heritage Hero.

As part of the award a cheque for £500 goes to the charity of her choice and receives £250 of retails vouchers. Each winner or group also received a plaque.
