Ring o' Bells Fun Quiz
« Reply #31 on: October 23, 2003, 10:02:41 PM »
An incredible time was had at the Ringer's last night - it was an excellent quiz (even if we do say ourselves! ) and there was a good size crowd in - £70.55 was raised towards the Iron Bridge Fund.

The Higher and Lower Game was amazing - we had agreed to play until someone won it, as the prize had reached £100 and a second pot had been building nicely for a few weeks. Last time we did this it took 23 attempts before it was won.

Last night 57 tickets were sold. 56 tickets were drawn and nobody won the prize. The 57th ticket drawn was held by a lady collecting money for Breast Cancer Research, and the pub erupted when she won the £100 for charity. You couldn't have written a better script!

Next quiz is on Wednesday 5th November, when the charity to benefit will be The Poppy Appeal again.

Next quiz at the Ringers is on Wednesday 22 October, in aid of the Iron Bridge Restoration Project.

The Higher and Lower prize of £100 was carried over again and, as the next pot is building successfully, it will be played to a conclusion on the 22nd. Last time we did this 23 tickets were drawn before the prize was won - very entertaining!

Another £65 was raised for the Guides' Hut replacement last night, taking the two-quiz total to £192.50.

The new landlord of the Ringers is continuing the quiz nights and every other one will be for the Iron Bridge Campaign, with the others raising money for various local charities and good causes.

Any suggestions for deserving local charities will be welcomed - especially if the people involved are able to put together a quiz!

Only difference the new landlord has made is that the quizzes will now be held every fortnight - so the next Iron Bridge Quiz is Wednesday 30 July 9.00 pm start.

Hope to see you there........

An excellent night had by all! Another £105.50 raised towards the Iron Bridge Restoration at the Ringers this evening, which takes the total raised at the Ringers' quiz nights to £1002.30p in almost exactly 12 months.

The Higher & Lower game prize money of £100 was won after an amazing 23 attempts, and the prize money carried forward to the next quiz on 18th June is almost £100 already.

The next one will be in aid of the Marple Girl Guides HQ rebuilding fund - a very good cause - get there early if you want a seat.

The second quiz for the Marie Curie Trust will take place on Wednesday 21 May, usual time. The Higher and Lower Game was not won again so the jackpot will remain at £100 and the prize for the time after has started to build.

Last night's quiz for the Iron Bridge raised £81.70, taking the total money raised for the bridge so far by our quizzes at the Ringers to £896.80!
