On the 27th July 2006 Andy Settle and Nick Higgins, Youth Workers for the Charity, Charis-Marple Churches Community Projects, intend to make a Trek around the country entitled “Catch the Buzz”

But they intend to make this Trek in 1973 Bristol VR Double Decker Bus. ‘The Community Bus’ or “Doris” as she is affectionately know is out each week as a mobile hangout for young people in Marple and District. She offers the young people a place to meet friends, free drinks and biscuit, a play station, music and much more.

But now its going National! The aim of the Trek is to raise the profile of this type of work with young, to encourage others to get involved and to engage in sponsorship of the Trek to raise funds for further buses and fund a 3year fulltime worker post.

They intend to make stopovers at Glasgow, Inverness, John O’Groats, Edinburgh, Newcastle, York, London, Exeter, Land’s End Penzance, Bristol, and Chester where they will be joined by local volunteers and young people.

The whole event will end on the 12th August with a Youth Concert at Woodley Sports Stadium that evening when a number of youth bands will perform. It is hoped that the Stadium will be filled to capacity. (Tickets will be available from the Charity Office)

To find out more information you can contact the Charis Office on 0161 449 5370 or you can call Andy Settle direct on 07732511956.
