Nativity Sculptures installed!

Adding to the spirit of Christmas in Marple, Friends of Memorial Park have installed the Market Street Nativity sculptures this afternoon, following a clean-up, refresh and new varnish by metal artist Wayne Chaisty during the autumn. Did you know it was 14 years ago, in 2006 when Wayne made these!

Have yourself a Marple indie Christmas!

Here's a great Christmas video from Goodness Marketing and film maker Gavin Sturgeon promoting Marple Indie Shops and small businesses...

Usually, the first weekend in December is a Christmas extravaganza in Marple.

Father Christmas and his elves would sail down the canal in a lit-up barge, with sweets handed out to awestruck children at the Armed Forces Club. Chestnuts would be roasting and crafts would be selling at the Christmas Cracker, and hundreds of people would don red suits and run the Santa Dash in aid of charity.

But this is 2020.

As retailers welcomed shoppers after the second lockdown, we popped in to see some of our local independents on Small Business Saturday, and capture a bit of the festive spirit they bring to this corner of the world.

We hope you enjoy this celebration of community, connection and Christmas spirit!
