Rotary Club: Let's Cheers for Santa [7 to 23 December 2020]

New Mills, Marple and District Rotary's "LET’S CHEER FOR SANTA!"

New Mills, Marple and District Rotary have been making plans for Santa's visits to Marple and beyond this Christmas. Lockdown2 permitting of course.

As everyone will realise, this year due to the Covid virus Rotary are unable to make the normal House to House collections or store collections with Santa.  As one of the main reasons for the Santa float is to give pleasure, particularly to the children, they are hoping not to disappoint them too much this year by doing a special socially distanced “drive past” instead.

The intention is to drive the usual routes at a slow pace so that the children can come into their gardens to see Santa go past, although they will not be able to approach him as usual. The Rotary Club are in the process of setting up a Facebook page that will show the dates and routes and and these will of course be displayed here too when more details are available.

They also hope to have a link to a GPS tracker showing where the sleigh is live.

There will also be a Just Giving page linked to the page for people to be able to donate.

This new “normal” is making many challenges for everyone but New Mills, Marple and District Rotary are determined to rise to them.

So, the Rotary Club will be organising a Santa’s sleigh drive past for the following local communities on the following dates:
  • Whaley Bridge - Monday 7th December
  • Woodville - Tuesday 8th December
  • Disley - Wednesday 9th December
  • Rose Hill - Monday 14th December
  • New Mills Low Leighton - Tuesday 15th December
  • Marple (Ley Hey) - Wednesday 16th December
  • New Mills (Eaves Knoll) - Monday 21st December
  • Marple Bridge - Tuesday 22nd December
  • Romiley - Wednesday 23rd December
