The Friends of Rose Hill Station has been running an inter-generational community project sponsored by the Big Lottery, and supported by Community rail and by the Manchester Airport Community Fund. It involves the creation of a large scale mural to be sited behind the station car park. The artwork has been led by local artist, Tracy McGuinness-Kelly and will consist of approximately 300 individual pieces of art painted on wooden discs created by people of a wide age range from across the Marple community. The discs represent themes relevant to the community of our local history, environment, our railway and canals, rail safety, nature and society.
We are having a Launch Event when the Mayor of Stockport will unveil the mural on Saturday 17th November at Rose Hill Station from 12 noon.
There is no charge to attend and we hope that many of our community, including those who have made panels for the mural, will be present to celebrate this aspect of the community project in which we are involved.
