Hi
I was unable to attend last night but have been in touch with Peter so we can catch up together with Aron before the next meeting which I will be attending.  It adds weight to the other groups locally who campaign around access to shared spaces and speeding; and to those groups promoting our parks and green spaces to create a really strong local agenda.

Thanks
Becky

I sent my apologies to Hannah as I had a prior engagement last night.  I think this is a fantastic initiative and will be attending future events.  I attended the GM Green Summit in March.  Chris Boardman gave a talk about his vision for walking and cycling in GM which was really inspiring.  I really feel that he will listen to the local walk/ride groups and we will see positive changes as a result of them.

Hi, yes I did attend. I’m really supportive of this initiative as it’s exactly the kind of community-led approach that I think we need to be championing. I know that the organisers will be providing a summary of our discussions so I won’t do that here! I hope we can keep up the momentum and come up with some beneficial proposals which will mean that Marple and the surrounding area makes the most of this opportunity. As a councillor I would aim to support the group and help it to push forward its agenda with the council.

Hi Mark,

I was only too happy to support the meeting and what the group are trying to do. I was in attendance as was Cllr Gribbon, Cllr Allan and Claire Vibert. Not sure if any other candidates from Marple North were in attendance, but there were no other Cllrs or candidates from Marple South and High Lane ward in attendance.

Hope that helps.

Kind regards

Kenny

Unfortunately I couldn't make the meeting but I understand it was quite well attended.

The Marple Website will be very pleased to support Walk Ride Marple in any way it can.

It would be interesting to know what local councillors and election candidates think of this scheme and whether they support it in Marple?

Did any councillors or candidates attend to show their support?

Want to make roads in Marple safer and easier to walk and cycle?

Please join Marple residents at the Navigation Hotel at 7pm on Tuesday the 23rd April for the first meeting of a community group to discuss how we can help people to walk and cycle more for short journeys in Marple. This is part of a Greater Manchester wide project being steered by the Mayor and Chris Boardman.

The group is EXTREMELY keen to have parents of all the local schools involved, especially those involved in the road 'issues' on Elmfield Drive and Bowden Lane.

We will be looking for input on issues such as suggestions for pedestrian crossings, traffic lights, traffic islands, wider pavements, bike paths, bollards, regulated parking, traffic calming and any other issue or suggestions that might make it easier, safer and more pleasant to walk and ride around Marple.

The Walk Ride Marple group has a facebook group where you can keep up to date with progress: https://www.facebook.com/groups/350692522223792/

Additional details and information on the poster. Please ask if you want more information.
