Swedish Whisky Tasting at the Thumb [Wednesday 15 May 2019]

Very pleased to announce our next whisky tasting at the Northumberland Arms! Marple Bridge

MACKMYRA with Alex Johnson
Wednesday 15th May 7.30pm - Northumberland Arms
7 whiskies and special offers for attendees
£20 per ticket

Mackmyra sounds Scottish but isn't. Actually it's Swedish, and we think it makes the perfect follow up to what was a very popular Benromach tasting back in March.

We wanted to show something different but keep it accessible, with enough innovation in the range to put on a good show. Like Benromach, Mackmyra implement a wide variety of cask influences and distillery processes, just take a look at some of the mouthwatering expressions in the line up below!

MACK by Mackmyra (entry level)
Brukswhisky (flagship brand)
Svensk Ek (Swedish oak)
Svensk Rok (oaked and smoked)
Appelblom (Calvados cask)
Skordetid (Amarone cask)
Moment Karibien (Rum & Oloroso cask)

Our host will be Alex Johnson who now works directly and exclusively for Mackmyra, following many years in the wider spirits industry. He is a long-standing friend of Portland Wine and makes it all very easy to understand and appreciate. Sean and myself previewed some of this range with Alex earlier this year. We were impressed, and Sean has recently put the Brukswhisky forward for an informal competition with 15 other whiskies - all very established Scotch Malts - and it came 4th on the night.

So don't be put off if you don't know this one! Tickets very likely to sell through again, we reached capacity on the night last time. Get in touch with us or the pub for tickets, full payment is required thanks
