Update: Marple South and High Lane

Although the Hazel Grove Conservatives' web site currently shows Yvonne Collier as their candidate for Marple South and High Lane, I have today learned from Yvonne herself that regrettably she had to resign from her candidacy at the beginning of the year for health reasons. I'd like to thank Yvonne for getting in touch to advise this and apologise if this topic has caused her any distress. I also hope Yvonne's health improves soon and perhaps we will see her standing again in the future.

Currently a replacement Conservative candidate has not been announced but hopefully we will learn more about this soon.

Update: Marple North

Claire Vibert, Labour Candidate for Marple North is first off the mark for 2019 with her introduction here:

http://www.marple-uk.com/smf/index.php?topic=8171.0

All candidates will be treated the same by the forum administration and given the same opportunity and technical support (if needed) to represent themselves on here.

Each candidate will be given a separate thread when they introduce themselves and can post in any other threads they wish, or start new ones.

Obviously regular users are likely to post based on their political beliefs but whatever those are please keep your comments polite and do your best to be positive rather than negative. Anything considered abusive will be removed by the administrators.

Who are the candidates for Local Councillor in May 2019?

This section of the forum, first set-up for the 2016 elections, has now been re-badged in preparation for the Local Councillor Elections in May 2019.

Marple North Councillor Annette Finnie is stepping down for personal reasons at the end of her current term. Since being elected as a Conservative Councillor for Marple South and High Lane 4 years ago Councillor Kenny Blair has become an Independent and has not yet declared if he will be standing again.

So who are the candidates for the two places  - one in Marple North and one in Marple South & High Lane - that are up for grabs in May?

A bit of detective work so far reveals the following snippets of news on this front:

Claire Vibert is standing as the Labour Candidate for Marple North.
Becky Senior is standing as the LibDem Candidate for Marple North.
Aron Thornley is standing as the LibDem candidate for Marple South and High Lane.
Yvonne Collier was due to stand as the Conservative Candidate for Marple South and High Lane (see later post).

@Claire Vibert is already registered on the forum and it would great you could introduce yourself on this board.

Becky Senior and Aron Thornley, it would be great if you could register and tell us about yourselves too.

@CllrKennyBlair is a registered member too and will hopefully advise his intentions when he is ready to do so.

If you know of any other candidates for Marple North or Marple South & High Lane please let us know so that their details can be promoted too.

Incumbent councillors @TomDowseMarpleSouth, @Malcolm Allan, @Steve Gribbon and @ColinMac, please point your colleagues here to introduce themselves.

For reference, here are last year's election results:
