Hello

They will probably put traffic lights in, however the previous repair was primarily pointing for which they required the footbridge, perhaps they will sling a platform over the parape, but eventually a footbridge should be provided here for safety and convenience.
Agree .it is a bad Bridge for crossing

The last time the bridge was repaired the contractors built a temporary footbridge/working platform above the river.  I have suggested to the council that if this occurs again then the Council should investigate making it a permanent fixture as they did with the Iron bridge years ago.

Currently there is only the narrow footpath on the upstream side, probably not wide enough for a double buggy and occasionally useless when rainfall creates a huge puddle on he Marple Bridge side.

An additional footbridge would allow the Nursery Nurses to take their charges into Brabyns Park without having to cross the busy Compstall Rd four times.

If there is anyone who can persuade Stockport Council to cater for Compstall Residents and those walking between Brabyns Park and Etherow Country Park, please take up this issue.
Someone posted this before they may not be puting a footbridge in just using lights for one way system .

2nd July: Compstall Bridge - Compstall Road/Andrew Street, Romiley

Please be advised that contractors working on behalf of Stockport Council will be placing a crane on Compstall Bridge, Compstall Road/Andrew Street to remove parapet masonry from the river in advance of carrying out repairs to the bridge.

The work is scheduled to take place on the 2nd July and temporary traffic signals will be required between 9.00am and 4.00pm, it is expected to take one day to complete but should unexpected difficulties arise the work may continue on the 3rd July, with temporary traffic signals in operation between 9.00am and 4.00pm.
