The agenda for the Marple Area Committee Meeting on Wednesday 15 September has been published.

The meeting starts at 6pm in the Town Hall Council Chamber.

The press and public are able to follow the proceedings by watching the live webcast of the meeting.

Watch LIVE via this link, or afterwards on catch-up: http://democracy.stockport.gov.uk/ieListDocuments.aspx?MId=27503&EVT=101&DT=A

Note that the Web Casts are embedded in the meeting agendas.

There's a page about Marple AC that tries to explain in simple terms what they do and how you can get involved here:

http://www.marple.website/marple-area-committee.html

The page includes a map of the Marple Wards so you can see exactly where the boundaries of Marple North and Marple South and High Lane are. It also features a live feed from the Stockport Council web site at the bottom that shows links to the latest agendas issued, meetings held etc.

There is also a shortcut link to the Marple Area Committee page on the council site: www.stockport.gov.uk/mac

With regards to tonight’s Area Committee meeting, if anyone has any upcoming events that are of community benefit I would be happy to mention these during chairs announcements. Please feel free to contact me with anything of note, this is the same for all Area Committee meetings.

The agenda for the Marple Area Committee Meeting on Wednesday 4 August has been published.

The meeting starts at 6pm in the Town Hall Council Chamber. In the light of the ongoing impact of the coronavirus pandemic and the consequent limited capacity of many of the council's meeting rooms, members of the public are strongly encouraged to watch the public webcast rather than attend the meeting in person unless you are attending for the purposes of public speaking on planning applications.

The press and public are able to follow the proceedings by watching the live webcast of the meeting.

Good afternoon

For those who are interested in attending the next Marple Area Committee on Wednesday 4th August, the location will be the Council chambers at the Town Hall. The start time will be 6pm as always.

This is a decision that has been taken by Council officers and will apply to all Borough Area Committees.

Kind regards

In the light of the ongoing impact of the coronavirus pandemic and the consequent limited capacity of many of the council's meeting rooms, members of the public are strongly encouraged to watch the public webcast rather than attend the meeting in person unless you are attending for the purposes of public speaking on planning applications.

As we've been advised by @Steve Gribbon, this meeting will see him elected as Chair for the coming year. This month is a lengthy agenda including a report on the High Lane Neighbourhood Plan.

The press and public are able to follow the proceedings by watching the live webcast of the meeting.

Good morning. I have raised this question with the democratic services department, this is the answer I received:

Good Afternoon Councillor Gribbon, thank you for your email.

We have four area committees that would ordinarily take place outside the Town Hall during area committee week.  Most of these venues would be unable to accommodate the committee, officers and members of the public while socially distanced.

Accommodation within the civic complex for this first cycle of meetings also has the benefit of being appropriately staffed and covid-19 risk assessed to ensure that each meeting room is covid-secure and has been appropriately sanitised before anyone has been admitted to the meeting.  Moreover, there is on-site  staffing in place at town hall reception to manage members of the public should numbers exceed the stated capacity of the room.

The capacity limitations of external venues, coupled with the above logistical issues has led us to conclude that it would be helpful for us to apply a consistent approach to the management of risk across all area committees, and therefore conclude that until such a point that social distancing rules have been relaxed, (which may be post 21 June 2021) the civic complex is the most appropriate venue.

I can see the point from a ‘safety first’ side but we will be looking forward to coming home for the following meetings and I have made this clear to the services department.

Kind regards and stay safe

Steve

Presumably because this idiot government have decreed that council meetings can no longer be held via zoom but have now to return to in person events no matter what the risk to the public, staff or elected members and no Marple venue can be guaranteed to be safe and is large enough to accommodate a large public audience.

In the Town Hall? Not in Marple? Is there a reason for that?

Good afternoon

I am delighted to have been selected as the chair for Marple Area Committee meetings.

For your information the next meeting is 6pm on Wednesday 23rd June. When the agenda is available I shall update on here unless admin kindly does this first.

Should you wish to ask a question during the public engagement section there is an online form available

https://interactive.stockport.gov.uk/contents/councilquestions/

The meetings will be conducted in the Town Hall but will be online for those who wish to watch. Later in the year I am hoping to have a section where school pupils can get involved with local matters, I have contacted all local school heads regarding this.

We look forward to seeing you online.

Kind regards

Steve
