Those percentage turnout figures are dreadful - especially considering that the south marple turnout was the second highest in Stockport according to Stockports website.

I would be interested to know if the turnout had improved at all since they made it easier to register for postal votes - anyone know?

This is not an official answer but Bev [Beverly Morley-Scott] and Bill [William Morley-Scott] are husband and wife who stood for the North and South Marple wards respectively.

Thanks for that Dave, very interesting and a great idea to post them here. Anyone know how these results compare to last time?

Should have thought of this before - the results are on the Council website, of course.  Here they are.   (Looks like Mrs M-S did better than her husband.)

Does anyone know what the Marple results were?  I assume the libs held on, but as Mark says it might be interesting to know whether the majorities changed.

It does, Beverley Morley-Scott was up against Shan Alexander.

I think you're right, the liberals will hold on to their posts. The interesting thing will be to see if there is any swing in the majority - an indication of whether the mood is changing locally or if everyone is still happy with performances.

Yes Mark, that did occur to me also. It could also explain why some posters had the name Bev (or Beverley) Morley-Scott and others had simply Morley-Scott.

Rather confusing, especially as no information was forthcoming about the candidates, which was my original point.

I expect that it is academic anyway as Mr Candler will win in my ward (or at least that is what I would expect).

Could it be possible that they are both standing in different wards?

Who was the libdem candidate?

Had a surprise when I went to vote today. After seeing all the posters for Beverley (or Bev) Morley-Scott I presumed that she was standing for the council again (as she did at the last election). The voting paper gave the name of William Charles Morley-Scott, who I think is her husband.

Can this be right?  Posters all over Marple for Beverley when it is actually her husband standing. Every poster I have seen says either Beverley or Bev.

Or are they actually the same person, surely not!   '<img'>

All be it a little late and the fact that I live in a different area to you Harry, but we have had a leaflet from all the main candidates in Hazel Grove and all they want to acheive might be that they havent got to you or anything

Well it is the local elections tomorrow, and I still do not know what each candidate hopes to achieve if they are successful.

The only thing I have seen is a banner at the bottom of Dan Bank that states that Mrs Morley-Scott 'pledges to sort out the Lisburne Lane lights'. It may be that one of our prospective councillors would endorse turning the Jolly Sailor into a Youth Drop-In centre (anything but more retirement flats), I don't know.

Years ago we used to receive leaflets that gave summaries of each candidate's past and aspirations. I have not seen one of these for a long time. Is it just me that is ill informed or are we expected to vote for the main political party rather than for the person and his or her views.

Perhaps the candidates, or their helpers, could post on here.
