Volunteers needed for winter tasks in Rollins Wood
« Reply #1 on: February 17, 2015, 09:56:00 PM »
We have a few tasks to do before spring in Rollins Wood - the new community woodland hidden between Brabyn's Park and Compstall Rd.
We had a magnificant turnout for our tree planting, and the wood looks fantastic! Do go and look.
If you haven't been involved yet, jobs coming up include:
 - fence removal (energetic)
 - numbering and measuring trees to monitor their growth (easy, and fun)
 - planting more orchard trees, when they arrive (we have 16 so far)
- planting the willow coppice. (Basket-making, anyone?)
Just get in touch with me and I'll add you to the email list.  Task days include Sundays but soon we'll be able to do weekday evenings too, and I'm often there during the day.
In exchange for your labour you are entitled to a share in the co-operative which will own the wood later this year!
