I'm please to put you out of your misery at last (what, you'd forgotten! ).
The roach pole was needed to get a hook onto the counter-weight sling on the flagpole nearest the council offices in Memorial Park. This is because the sling was jammed and couldn't be lowered. In addition, the internal halyard cover was broken so we've had to fit a new one. This is why it's taken so long, as the service from the first supplier that we went to for replacement parts was appalling and the order had to be cancelled and parts obtained from elsewhere.
Anyway, repairs were all done this morning and the flag commemorating 10 Years in the Park was moved to this flagpole so that we could raise a "Lest We Forget" flag on the one near the War Memorial just in time for 100 Years since the start of WWI tomorrow. As you can see we're ready!
