Bag Packing for Marple Skate Park [12 & 19 October 2013]

Thank you to all the skatepark users who joined us at Morrisons in Bredbury yesterday. We managed to raise £235 for the skatepark project and £50 for a donation to Stockport Homes for their nominated charity Beechwood Cancer Care as a thank you for arranging yesterday and last week's bag pack at the Co-Op, and for printing us 20 skatepark t-shirts free of charge.

Marple Cancer Charities, who we invited to join us because there are so many tills at Morrisons, also did really well and raised £205 for their important cause.

Thank you and well done to everyone involved - that's £928 raised for the skatepark over the two bag packing events, which is a fantastic effort!

The brilliant total collected during our Bag Pack in the Co-Op yesterday is £692.94! Thank you Co-Op shoppers!

The really good thing about it though was the involvement of the young local people who really want the improvements to the skate park to happen and worked really hard yesterday.

We now have the opportunity to do it all again next Saturday 19 October at Morrison's in Bredbury.

Once again, The event will run from 10.00am - 4.00 pm and we would welcome help from anyone who supports this including children (accompanied by their parents/grandparents) for sessions of an hour or two please.

As Morrison's has so many tills we have also invited Marple Cancer Charities to share the event with us, the plan being to "man" half the tills each.

A big thank you to Stockport Homes volunteers for arranging and helping with these bag packs for us.

We have also now received the money raised by Stockport Homes staff taking part in the Marple 10k and running the Tombola at the finish - this came to £313.28 in total.

Volunteers are required by Friends of Marple Memorial Park to raise funds to improve the Skatepark area by having bag-packing events at Marple Co-op on Saturday 12th October.

The event will run from 10.00am - 4.00 pm.
