A quieter night at the Ring o' Bells Quiz last night but still enough to take the 3 week total for Friends of the Park / Marple Skatepark to £189!

So a huge thank you to Mark and Anita at the Ringers - the Quiz Nights have now contributed £819 to the Skatepark Fund!

£70+ was raised at last Thursday's Ring o' Bells Quiz Night for Friends of the Park.

We're hoping that the last of the current 3 for this cause will be just as good to take the 3 week total to £200+.

Don't cross your fingers, come to the quiz, Thursday night 5 December.

A good turnout at the Ring o' Bells Quiz last night raised £66 for Friends of Memorial Park.

Thank you Ring o' Bells - It would be great to match or even better that next week!

Following the 3rd Quiz at the Ring o' Bells for Friends of the Park last night, plus a bit of good luck on the "Open the Box" game, a total of £183 has been raised towards the Skate Park Project over the three weeks.

A very BIG thank you to Mark and Anita at the Ringers for their regular support of Friends of the Park and other local good causes. They have even scheduled three more quizzes for us already on Thursday 21 & 28 November and 5 December so please put those dates in your diaries and come along to support your local park.

Another £50+ raised for the skate park at the Ring O Bells, Marple Quiz last night - thanks to stand-in quiz master Eddie!

There is also free beer on offer at the Ringers (and presumably other Robbies pubs too) until 29 September to celebrate their birthday. It's a buy one get one free offer if you provide yours and a friends details on a special beer mat  :)

Looking forward to the last of the 3 quizzes for the skate park next Thursday.

£47 raised for the Skatepark at last night's Quiz - thank you Ring o' Bells!

Be good to have a few more teams next week when stand-in Quizmaster Eddie will running the show.

£50 was won on the Open the Box but there should still be 4 boxes with cash in next week.

Ring o' Bells Quiz Nights for Friends of the Park [21, 28 November, 5 December]

The Quiz Nights at the Ring o' Bells Public House will raise funds for Friends of Marple Memorial Park for the next three Thursdays.

That's Thursdays 19, 26 September and 3 October starting at 9pm (better to get there about 8.30 to ensure a seat).

The quiz costs £1 per person to enter, all of which goes to the supported cause. There is also an "Open the Box" competition that costs £1 per ticket with 50% going to the cause and 50% to the cash prizes. This has 12 boxes and a number of them (can't remember how many atm) will have £50 cash prizes with some other good prizes too and a few boobies!

The first prize for the quiz is 8 free drinks to be consumed on the night or the following week. The second prizes varies but is usually a bottle of wine or 4 bottled drinks.

The quiz comprises 40 general knowledge questions, a music round with 10 tracks and a picture round (or dingbats that drive you nuts).

There are handicap / bonus points based on the size of your team (4 in a team is standard) and there are also penalty points for previous winners and runners up to level the playing field a little more.

It's a good fun night and has raised lots of money for local causes over the years - well worth supporting and especially when it's for your local park!
