Thanks to all those Santas who rode back to Marple on the vintage bus today - what a great charity effort!

The atmosphere down at Wyevale was brilliant at lunchtime.

Look forward to seeing as many people as possible on the bus this Friday evening 7th December, leaving Marple Hall at 6pm for the arrival of the 'real' Santa off the narrowboat later on...!!

Marple Santa Dash [Sunday 2 December 2012]

The Romiley, Marple and District Lions Club are running their annual Marple Santa Dash on Sunday 2nd December 2012.

Enjoy a family fun day in Marple. The Santa Dash is about 2 miles long, mostly downhill and along footpaths – and don’t worry if you can’t manage a dash! You can run, walk or even crawl!

The Santa Dash starts at noon to the rousing sounds of the bagpipes from Marple Memorial Park and finishes, to the tunes of Christmas carols played by Marple Band, at Marple Garden Centre, Dooley Lane. There is no need to worry about getting lost as marshals will guide you along the route, which is mostly on the pavement (apart from a short section on Dooley Lane – please take extra care along this stretch of road which can be very busy).

The registration fee for the Santa Dash is £10.00, which covers the cost of your Santa Suit and also helps the Lions to organise the event whilst continuing their support of worthy causes locally, nationally and internationally.

On the day, participants can check-in at the Scout Hut, Marple Memorial Park from 11.00 when you will receive your Santa Suit. There will be an area for changing but please note that all personal belongings must be taken with you as security cannot be guaranteed in the Scout Hut. Limited parking is available in the Marple Memorial Park Car Park but there is ample public parking nearby in Marple. Courtesy transport is being provided by VIP Taxis for your return from Marple Garden Centre.

All Dashers, wearing their Santa Suit, will be served with complimentary refreshments at Marple Garden Centre and will be entitled to a ride on the Dragon Miniature Railway. All Junior Dashers (under 11 years of age) wearing their Santa Suit will receive an early Christmas present.

The Romiley, Marple and District Lions are running the event in aid of the Find a Cure for Martha Campaign. All participants will receive a Kidney Research UK Sponsorship Form and it would be greatly appreciated if participants could raise sponsorship to help each the fundraising target of this extremely worthwhile local cause.

This will be the fourth Santa Dash and we hope that it will repeat the success of the two previous events, whilst again increasing awareness of and support for the campaign. Help achieve the goal and fund kidney research to save lives!

If you know of anyone who would like to be involved in the Santa Dash but wouldn’t be able to manage the distance, they may like to consider volunteering as a marshal on the day to help encourage others along the route. To volunteer your services on the day please contact Terry Harding (contact details below).

If you or your company would like to sponsor the event please contact the organisers. You can be assured of receiving maximum publicity for your support.

For further information please contact Terry Harding on 0161 303 0011 or lionterry1@btinternet.com.

A registration form is attached to this post.
