I'm very pleased to announce the launch of Marple Local History Society's Archives On-Line.

www.marplelocalhistorysociety.org.uk/archives

The Marple Website has been working on this project with the society for over 2 years, setting up the platform, helping them with processes and procedures, and to get the initial data uploaded.

There is a long way to go to get everything in the physical archives uploaded but we now think it's ready for the public to access. The project will continue to be a work in progress, and may never be finished, as new material is always coming in. The society will continue to work their way through their archives to digitise material that is not yet uploaded and to improve the quality and accessibility of the huge collection of material of local interest that they have.

The launch of the archives has been announced in the Society's summer newsletter, which can be accessed here: www.marple-uk.com/MLHS-Newsletter.pdf

I'm pleased to advise that a major upgrade to the Content Management System of the Marple Local History Society web site has been carried out this month and the new version of the site is now live. Biggest change for visitors will be that the site now has a responsive template to ensure it works better on desktops, laptops, tablets and smart phones.

It's exactly a year today since the launch of Marple Local History Society's own web site and they've been making a fantastic job of keeping it up to date themselves. If you haven't visited recently take a look here:

The Society has also published its Summer 2013 Newsletter:

And the Society's Community Page on The Marple Website has been updated too: www.marple-uk.com/mlhs

Although the Marple Local History Society web site was officially launched at the beginning of September, there was also a more formal launch of it on Wednesday night at Marple Library in conjunction with the launch of two new local history society publications. These are available to view on the site here:

I'm pleased to announce the official launch of Marple Local History Society's new web site that has been produced in collaboration with the Marple Website.

The site format has been developed with members of the society over the last few months and they will now maintain and update it themselves with with support as required from Marple Website Design and Hosting.

Marple Local History Society has been a member of the Marple Website Community pages since January 2000. The society has been sharing their photo archives with the community through the Marple Website Virtual Tour since 2010 and will continue to do so. I am delighted to maintain strong links with the society now that they have their own site:
