According to the 1851 Tithe map the canal and the road are owned by the Peak Forest Canal Company.
The land to the west, now covered in Brambles was owned by the Bradshaw-Isherwood family of Marple Hall.
There was a plan to develope the whole of the Ley Hey park area from 1900 onwards but the plans came to an end when the developer had a heart attack and died in 1908.
Some of the land had already been sold, some was leased, some went to the creditors and was later sold. The remaining land was sold off from the 1920s onwards.
The last piece owned by the Bradshaw_Isherwoods was, hopefully, purchased by SMBC a couple of years ago.
My research on land ownership is continuing.
