Does anyone remember the CHEMIST that used to be on station road ?    Going from the Jolly Sailor   past the first row of terraced houses it was in the first detached house on the right   next to the passage from Station Road to Hollins Green Road
I can remember going in it used to scare me to death   very dark,  only one light bulb    and the man who used to be there looked like Alfred Hitchcock  i used to run all the way home   lol lol
The chemist on Stockport rd loooked like Alfred Hitchcock,he didn't dress his window very often. It was full of faded crepe paper and displays of soap, talcom powder and bath cubes that you couldn't read the label on due to fading. His name was Mr Morris he retired to Wales.

For the slightly balding amongst us - how about Fred Hyde the barber in Marple Bridge?  I well remember sitting in the chair for a short back and sides and wondering what singing meant on the price list.

I do he was there for the opening of the coop or something, funny but not 3 days ago I was telling my Dad about meeting him there.

I remember the bon bon on Church Ln, the Choclate box on Stockport Rd. Going for a loaf for my Nanna at the bakers that used to be next to where the Cheshire is now. The kids boating lake and wishing the council would fill it full of water.

Marple in the mid 80's was a young boy's dream, living 2 secs from the countryside and the canal.

Ah I thought it may have been opening the Co-op. I too remember the Chocolate Box and the boating lake. You're right, Marple is a lovely place to grow up.
