MARPLE CARNIVAL CRISIS?
« Reply #1 on: October 03, 2009, 09:22:56 AM »
The main site has been updated with an appeal on behalf of Marple Carnival Committee, who have asked us to publish the following statement:

Another successful year for Marple Carnival!

In spite of both the inclement summer weather and the current economic climate Marple Carnival Charities Committee was able to give a total of £4,300 to 35 local charities at this year’s distribution evening on 25 September. Over the last 10 years or so approx £50,000 has been raised by a dwindling team of committee members – there are currently 6 active members from 3 families, with 80 years of Marple Carnival experience between them. And now ENOUGH IS ENOUGH – the committee needs new blood, new impetus, new thinking or there may be no more carnivals. The committee is currently starting to plan the 2010 carnival but may not be able to continue without additional help.

The future of Marple Carnival rests with the people of Marple!!

Imagine June without the Carnival and all those smiling faces! To loose it would be a local tragedy!

Go to www.marple-uk.com/carnival to see what you will be missing........

What do you think?
